Welcome to the August edition of our magazine. I hope this finds you in the midst of enjoying a truly pleasurable and adventure-filled summer.

As I reflect on the summers of my own youth, I am eternally grateful for these last fleeting weeks of summer. As a child growing up in a small rural town in New Jersey, the month of August was always filled with blueberries, corn, farm festivals and the longing to hold on the last sweet days before it was time to head back to school. I would find every way possible to celebrate and hold on to that special summer feeling. I would catch firefly friends in jars, I would open up all the windows when a thunderstorm would roll in – and our long driveway was always full of endless chalk art and hopscotch games.

As an adult living in beautiful Del Mar, summer holds a somewhat different meaning for me. The salty breeze whips through my hair as I enjoy sunset dinners at Jake’s, my shepherd romps around playfully at Dog Beach, and the concerts are packed with musical fun at Powerhouse Park. And let’s not forget the races – rich with history and always brimming with excitement.

In this issue of Del Mar Lifestyle we bring the dog days of summer to your doorstep. We showcase our favorite summer artists in this issue, and we meet the owners of Broken Yolk, San Diego’s longtime favorite breakfast spot. We are also very excited to take a peek inside Del Mar’s exclusive music experience, KAABOO. As summer winds down, we look at all of the exciting summer activities for you and your family to enjoy before everyone heads back to school.

Please enjoy our “endless summer” edition, and I wish you a fun, joy-filled August. I look forward to seeing you in September! A huge thank you to the artists who allowed us to take an intimate dive into their work, the KAABOO music festival founder and staff, and the Broken Yolk owners who have been truly wonderful to work with.

We at Del Mar Lifestyle wish you a blissful end of summer!
