Absent Filmed in Del Mar in 48 Hours

Local film director Sue Vicory created an all-female film team to enter a 48-hour San Diego film project; San Diego has the third-largest 48-hour film project in the world. Vicory’s cast and crew of around 30 women, called Team XX, worked to film entirely in and around Del Mar. Absent, a narrative short, received three nominations at the San Diego Film Awards in March, won a 2015 Telly award, and still screens on the film festival circuit. Vicory’s golden retriever Kacy has a cameo in the film. Congratulations to Sue Vicory. View Vicory’s films at SueVicory.com.

Del Mar Lifestyle Joins Real Talk San Diego, ESPN Radio

In a world where we now communicate in 140 characters or less, many entrepreneurs and business owners struggle to explain their unique value proposition to consumers. Real Talk San Diego is an entrepreneur’s soapbox that overcomes the challenges brought about by today’s new media. The radio show airs weekdays on ESPN 1700AM with a focus on “The Business of Life in America’s Finest City.” On-air personalities and guests alike include entrepreneurs, business owners, executives and community leaders who are having a positive impact on San Diego. Executive Producer Brett Ward came up with the concept after sponsoring a radio show for one of his other companies. Real Talk empowers business leaders by providing a unique platform to tell their story– but it doesn’t end with the listening audience. The show connects people and fosters new business relationships that would have been unlikely otherwise. The show is also streamed live on the Real Talk website, while podcasts and highlight videos are produced for each guest. Del Mar Lifestyle publisher Jennifer Root will host the magazine’s weekly lifestyle segment. We’re so happy to offer this resource to our Del Mar community. We invite you to tune in very soon. RealTalkSanDiego.com

Del Mar Art Stroll through a Pup’s Eyes

My  name is Luther and I’m a dog. My pal Max and I are so excited that the Del Mar Art Stroll is coming up soon.  We had so much fun last year! The Del Mar Art Stoll will take place in downtown Del Mar on October 4th from 9-4. This event features 100 local and regional artists, restaurant tastings and live music. Max and I are especially interested in the restaurant tastings. If you happen to see a large bulldog and a feisty puggle staring at your food, please feel free to share the wealth… As Del Mar is so dog friendly, there is a special section of the event devoted to dogs. The dog stroll will feature booths with tons of dog treats, specialty pet products and there will even be some fun dog contests. One of the great things about this event is the opportunity for us to get together with our local dog friends and make new ones too. I personally like to plant myself in the middle of everything so people (and their dogs) have to stop and meet me. It is hard to ignore a 105-pound bulldog.  Max and I will be spending the day at Dexter’s Deli, so be sure to stop by and say hi. If you are looking for other dog activities in Del Mar, be sure to check out the Halloween Pet Parade at Powerhouse Park on Sunday, Oct. 25. Max and I are hoping to win the costume contest this year! See you there, everyone!
