Your Guide to Local Ramona Valley Wineries
The name says it all. When you finally get to the Ranch, you’ll feel like you’ve been to hell and back. The location is in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by wild turkeys, horses, and cattle, to remind you that you are miles from downtown. It’s the perfect place to escape from your inner demons. The award winning wines range from bold and spicy Petit Sirah to Picpoul Blanc (a zingy and vibrant white), all artfully crafted by John and Paula York who make vibrant, flavorful wines straight from their heart.
A beautiful place to come with the kids (they have ponies to ride!) or without! These award-winning wines made by the lively and gregarious Teri and Micole Moore are technically well made under the watchful eye of Micole who introduces unique and interesting grapes to San Diego. They make a highly aromatic Viognier, blue-fruit and plushly textured Syrah, and exotically spiced Aglianico (a grape that hails from Southern Italy).
Vineyard Grant James
Aesthetically, this beautiful winery combines both rusticity and elegance. If you’re vibing more of a “down home” experience, then head to their barn for wine tastings and classes. For a more refined atmosphere, their fancy patio surrounded by the vineyard is the perfect place for a romantic date. The wines, crafted by Susanne Sapier, are fleshy and juicy palate pleasers. Susanne has a unique approach to her barrel regime focusing on the use of Hungarian oak. Her deft hand brings flavor complexity and length to the long finish of her wines.
