Breakfast Republic expands breakfast empire 

Their new Carmel Valley location is now open, and two additional locations are on the way in late 2017 and 2018. The new Carmel Valley location is nestled in The Village at Pacific Highlands Ranch, and boasts the same quirky décor as its other five locations. Check out their globally inspired breakfast dishes plus the rotating monthly food and drink specials. The seventh location for the Breakfast Republic brand will launch in Pacific Beach this winter and in May 2018, Breakfast Republic Carlsbad will open inside The Shoppes at Carlsbad.

Leonard Simpson 10th Annual 10 Best Awards Gala

On November 30th, Fashion Forward® presents the highly anticipated 10th Anniversary of the “Leonard Simpson’s 10 Best Awards”, co-produced by Brittany Noelle of Fashion LemonAID. To date, Fashion Forward has recognized over 180 men and women for their incredible philanthropy spirit. Kilroy Realty Solar Ribbon Cutting at Kilroy Centre Del Mar

Kilroy Realty held a Solar Ribbon Cutting Event on Thursday, November 2, at Kilroy Centre Del Mar. Working in partnership with Nautilus Solar, nine Kilroy Realty properties in California will undergo the solar project to collect and convert solar rays into useable, clean energy. These solar panels provide shaded canopy parking for residents, proactively source clean and renewable energy, reduce the community’s dependence on non-renewable fuels, and strengthen the resiliency of the energy grid. This project is part of Kilroy’s commitment and contribution to San Diego’s Climate Action Plan to achieve 100 percent citywide renewable energy usage by 2035, and to maintain the city’s rank as one of the nation’s leading cities in solar power.

Annie Lawless Launches New Luxe Natural Cosmetics Brand

San Diego local Annie Lawless has numerous titles to her name: co-founder of Suja Juice, the nation’s largest organic cold-pressed juice company headquartered in Miramar, Forbes 30 under 30 alumna, NYT Best Selling author, and wellness blogger behind Now, the La Jolla based entrepreneur is adding makeup guru to her resumé by launching her own luxury natural cosmetics brand, LAWLESS, which debuted October 23 with a high-end line of natural soft matte liquid lipsticks in eight highly pigmented shades ranging from the perfect, pouty nude to deep reds and trendy metallics.

West Elm Opens in Solana Beach Cedros Community

Design destination West Elm opened doors in Solana Beach on Thursday, November 16, at 212 S Cedros Ave., Unit 101 with a curated assortment of local products highlighting 14 California-based makers and designers alongside the store’s holiday collection displayed across 11,560-square-feet. West Elm’s Dru Ortega was in Solana Beach for the big opening, and hosted a sneak peek store tour mid-November for invited guests.

The Village at Pacific Highlands Ranch begins the season’s festivities with their Tree Lighting Event Sunday, November 26 (5 p.m.- 7:30 p.m) with live music, free photo with Santa and Mrs. Clause, hot chocolate and cookies. And their grand Holiday Festival is Sunday, December 3, featuring carnival games, petting zoo, face painting, train ride, and more (12 p.m.- 5 p.m). Check out their Movie Nights on Saturdays, December 9 and 16, 6 p.m. On Thursday, December 7 and Friday, December 8, 2 p.m.- 9 p.m., visit the Ice Skating Rink (admission is an unwrapped gift that will be donated to Rady’s Children’s OR a receipt of a $20 purchase from any tenant within the shopping center).

Army Toy Drive

Massage Envy San Diego, in partnership with The Salvation Army, is helping struggling San Diego families this holiday season by hosting a toy drive in each of their Massage Envy locations throughout San Diego County until December 16. The Salvation Army’s goal for 2017 is to provide 40,000 toys (in addition to stocking stuffers) to 14,000 children countywide. Participating San Diego Massage Envy locations will be a drop-off site for new, unwrapped toys for children of all ages. Harmonica Music 
Therapy Study for Use with Parkinson’s 

MusicWorx is exploring the use of music therapy, specifically the effects of harmonica playing, for people with Parkinson’s disease. This 12-week study aims to examine the use of harmonica playing on respiratory control, swallowing, and quality of life. Participants perform deep breathing exercises, physical warm-ups, harmonica warm-ups, harmonica repertoire, and mindfulness exercises. Academic partners include Lindsay Wilhelm, PhD, at Colorado State University, and Elizabeth Stegemoller, PhD, at Iowa State University. MusicWorx offers music therapy to the Parkinson’s community through the AudAbility program. Six and twelve-session classes are held Mondays and Wednesdays in Sorrento Valley.
